Rev. Dr. George W. Bailey Sr., D.D.
Pastor Bailey was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and Excepted Christ as his Savior at the age of twelve. Two years later he preached his first sermon in 1961 at the Triumph C.O.G.I.C. (The Pastor Elder Roosevelt Westley was his nephew).. He attended Lincoln Institute outside of Louisville, Ky. (its principal was Whitney M. Young Sr., the father of Whitney M. Young Jr. the founder of the National Urban League.) A graduate of Chrispus Attucks High School.
The Rev. Dr. Benjamin F. Davis (Dean of the Central Baptist Theological Seminary) of the Metropolitan Missionary Baptist church licensed him to preach the gospel. Upon ordination, he served as the Asst. Pastor of Lady Easter M.B.C. and the Greater Galilee I.M.B.C. in Indianapolis, Indiana. He served as the secretary and 1st Vice president of the Missionary Baptist Ministers Alliance of Indianapolis and Vicinity. (This organization had over 200 ministers.) He accepted the calls to Mt Zion M.B.C., Greater Faith M.B.C. and Pinecroft Bible churches in the Altoona Area. He has been in the ministry for over 50 years and the pastoral ministry for nearly forty years.
He has a B.A. in Philosophy and a M.A. in Black History from Indiana Christian University. He studied Theology at Christian Theological Seminary, Butler University, Central Baptist Theological Seminary and Universal Bible Institute. He has a M. Div. and a Doctor of Divinity (Honorary) He is currently working on a Doctor of Ministry degree.
Pastor Bailey has lectured at Penn State, and taught Theology courses in local seminaries. He has many sons and daughters in the Gospel ministry and continues to teach and mentor ministers and pastor all over the United States. He has lectured on Diversity in the Pa. D.O.C. and local schools for 10yrs. He has served on many civic and community boards. (I.e. Pa Human Relations, N.A.A.C.P)
He served in Viet Nam as a Sergeant in the Marine Corps and is a retired entrepreneur that has worked as a computer consultant for 25yrs.
Dr. Bailey is a proud father of 5 grown sons and a grand – great grandfather.
